In my Collection

'Young Lover' by Kim English
16x18
The first, in what could be my collection of fine art, is this gorgeous rendering by Kim English of this sweet couple cuddled up quite serenely on a couch. The painting is very organic and yet it is as real as it can get. The fluidity of the paint, the subtlety of the colors and the impeccable composition draw the eyes to the focal point and enhance the overall mood of this painting. I am immensely exited and not to mention proud, to own this amazing work of art.

'At the Tuileries' by Kim English
8x10
The Tuieleries is where I sat beside Kim and watched on in awe while he created this plein air sketch with astounding ease. I have a thing for umbrellas whether at the beach, a cafe or anywhere else really. I feel relaxed just looking at them. Its all cozy with the purple-y shadows, the golden light and the pleasant stillness in the air; I am not ready to move just yet.

'Summer Stroll' by Kim English
Purples and yellows being complementary colors, have a nice contrasting impact when put together. The well planned value spread makes the smidgen of sunlight pop with welcoming warmth. The lights in Kim's paintings are almost always exaggerated; the values slowly worked up to the highest key. They get all the attention, but like he says- 'Most of the work goes into the shadows'! And its nice how the barely suggested details leave so much up to the viewer's eye.
